New job is going great. I am very excited. Onto the question...
Question of the month
Question: I had worked very closely with a potential client when he
was looking for someone to build his e-commerce web site. He eventually went
with another company but we had become friends so I email him every once in a
while inquiring on the site’s progress. He recently called me and asked me if I
would look over the site and tell him why his site is not getting any traffic or
sales.
Answer: When he told me he was going with another company, I specifically
asked him if they knew SEO and web site conversion techniques and he said he
thought they did. Well, as I looked over the site, I could tell they knew
nothing. As I looked at the HTML, I could tell that whoever built the site had
no idea how to generate targeted keywords nor how to put those targeted keywords
into the site text. The site is not ranking in any search engine for any of its
keywords, which are entirely too general. And it had very little site text for
the search engine spiders to work with. Also, it had no web site conversion
information what so ever. If you want traffic:
- Research targeted keywords (phrases) for your site
- Add web site conversion information as well as keywords to ALL site text
- Add content and keyword-rich pages to your site -- that is what search
engines love
If you do this, you will see traffic AND sales.
