Well I launched my first web site using all the knowledge from the Wizards of Web training. The new site is PDT Communications. Now I am still working on getting the site into CSS, which I hope will be done very soon. I am very excited about this site – I think it is going to do very well.

****Question of the month****

Question: This month, I wanted to talk about why web sites fail to get users to buy from them or contact them for business leads.

Answer: Why web sites fail:

  1. They do not understand their visitor’s needs or why they are coming to their web site.
  2. They don’t help the visitor find their objective.
  3. They have had a negative experience with the brand or web site.
  4. The site does not understand the buying process.

Your site visitors all come with different objectives. You need to determine those objectives and/or questions they have and plan a site that will meet their expectations. Your visitors are also goal oriented. Plan a site that will help them accomplish their goals.

Your site visitors have the following questions about you:

  1. Why should I trust you?
  2. Why should I buy from you or contact you for your services?
  3. What is so special about your company?
  4. What is in it for me?
  5. How will I feel when I do business with you?
  6. How will I feel after I do business with you?

Answer these questions and you will have all the business you could ever want!

While at the Wizards of Web class, I heard of a theory that sites done all in CSS (not using any tables whatsoever) actually do better in the search engines than those done in tables. So I am going to test this with the PDT web site. Wow is doing a site all in CSS hard, but I think I have figured it out and should have the site complete within a few days.
