Introductory comments
I am very excited that I have been asked to speak at a Central Ohio STC
meeting in January. I will probably be speaking on web site conversion and SEO.
On to the question:
New Testimonial
Hi Theresa, I've added some new web pages, based on your style of web design
optimization, since you optimized our web site a few years ago. I wanted to let
you know that our rankings in Google are now in the top 3, on almost
every search we've conducted (most of them are in 1st place)—without
using quotes to call out specific phrases. This is in searches that result in
over 20,000 pages per search.
We're backlogged with orders until late June, possibly July. You ROCK!”

Question of the month
Question: What can you do if another site is using your exact keywords
and site text?
Answer: They say that someone copying your work is the sincerest form of
flattery but I don’t they meant copying all of your keywords and keywords
phrases on your web site. For some reason, one of my web sites cannot seem to
get any rankings on Google, which is strange. When I went in this morning to
Google to check on the keywords, yet again, I found a lot of other sites using
my exact keywords and text and they are ranking, whereas my site is not in the
top 50.
I actually have this happen to a lot of my web sites. My site sits at alone at
the top of the rankings then slowly other sites start appearing. When I go in
and check their keywords and text – they are exact duplicates of mine. There is
really nothing you can do about this. I am sure you could contact the search
engine but then it would probably be a he said/she said kind of thing. And I am
not sure there is anything the search engine could do either. Though it is not
ethical, people steal keywords and text all the time. The only way around this
is to go through the process of updating all your keywords and site text, which
can be a lengthy process.
I still have one site that sits alone at the top of the rankings for over three
years now and I have not had to do any updating. I hope I can get that lucky on
my other sites.

"Theresa - I just wanted to let you know how much my business has increased since you took over my website. What I am delighted about is that I am
receiving good, solid business leads from my target audience. How do you do that?" Sylvia Watson, President, Healing Environments with Feng Shui |
